Medea reference

While looking into the background of various nations, I discovered that the Greeks linked the name of Media to...well, Medea from the story of Jason and the Argonauts. Greeks were always injecting their mythology into Persian history...which the Persians were perfectly fine with. And the idea of this character being in my story? WAY too tempting. Also, clearly Caucasian...there's a reason for this. I looked into it and found that Colchis was near modern day Georgia (the nation, not the state).

Centuries ago, the woman named Medea was an infamous witch who helped the hero, her husband Jason, ascend to the throne. However, when a better opportunity presented itself, he abandoned her and their child and they went into exile. They fled from their new home in the region of Hellas to the Iranian Plateau, riding on the dragon-drawn chariot of sun fire. They came across a tribe, scattered and leaderless with a single man trying to give them unity. With her assistance, this man (Deioces) became a powerful legal presence that eventually forged them into a unified people. In gratitude, he named their nation after her: Media with the people being called the Medes. He also gave her the ability to remain there, safely. She did so...but she never forgot her life and spent most of her time, spending the years passing by drinking the best wine in all of the region.

Medea is a cynical woman by this point. Centuries of bitterness have left her old and embittered, relishing in the demise of her ex-husband, but still under his influence. As such, she spends her nights drinking herself into oblivion. She maintains her mystic powers, though, and will lay the foundation of the organization known as the Magi with the help of Persian religious leader Zarathustra (Zoroaster) and the Jewish prophet Daniel. Their mission? To help form Heaven on Earth, a mission that all magic users through history have sworn to help form, from Merlin in England to Maugris in Holy Rome to Vainamoinen in Finland and more.
