Grimmwoods Eros reference

Description

Concept by :iconshadow-dj:. Design-wise, I kind of wanted to have a "The Bachelor" vibe to him, since Greek Gods are modernized for this. As a hopeless romantic, the idea that this is one of the most powerful gods in all of Grimmwoods is something that appeals to me. Also, considering the season, I ended up listening to (and, by this point, learning by heart) Michael Bolton's Our Love is Like a Holiday.
...Considering that in Grimmwoods lore, the Roman gods are the children of the Greek gods, Eros has also been known to go by Cupid.

It would stand to reason why love of all things is considered one of the most powerful forces in the world of Grimmwoods, able to unite lovers and break the darkest of magics. The answer goes to the Gods of Olympus. As all is fair in love and war, the Olympian goddess of sex and beauty Aphrodite began an affair with Ares, the god of war. Through this union came a child that swiftly became the bane of all Olympus. When the boy was born, he was turned into the embodiment of an ancient, powerful primordial entity that even gods were afraid of. This entity's name was the same as the child's: Eros, the God of Love. Capable of bringing even Zeus to his knees from his powers, Eros could have reigned supreme. But the primordial being that had existed before time dawned had no such aspirations, instead seeking to continue his mission to prove that love is the most unstoppable force for good in the world. He even fell victim to his philosophy, falling in love with the mortal woman, Psyche (regarded to be the most beautiful woman in all Grimmwoods), to the point where she was allowed to ascend to godhood for their union to be eternal.

Though physically younger than most of the other Olympians, Eros has the attitude of someone much older. While he can seem aloof, he's a hopeless romantic to his core. He has a strong, rather passionate relationship with his wife, Psyche. Despite his identity, his mother is rather protective attitude towards him (his entire relationship with Psyche started with issues because Aphrodite didn't want her to get involved with her son).

Eros' power is that of the God of Love. This means he has power over all aspects of it...or rather, the seven words that the Ancient Greeks had for love.
Eros: Sexual love. Named after himself, this is the fiery passionate love that can annihilate rationality (Greeks didn't think this was completely positive).
Philia: Love of friends. The bond between comrades, brothers-in-arms, who would gladly die for one another.
Storge: Love of family. The deep bonds of affection shared among those of the same kin.
Ludus: Playful love. The love expressed between children and young lovers, expressed through things like flirtations, banter, and dancing.
Agape: Unconditional love. The love freely given to everyone from family to distant strangers through kindness and empathy.
Pragma: Longstanding love. The deep understanding developed by long-married couples, willing to give love as well as receive it.
Philautia: Love of the self. Not narcissism, but loving one's self, allowing them to give love to others as well.

He can evoke any of the seven loves in those whom he shoots with his bow. With his power, he truly proves that love conquers all.

Indeed. Heck, thinking he even gave an ultimatium towards Hecate way back when to why his influence can stop even the most powerful of dark spells; it's the power that comes from within and what drives those instincts to protect those one cares about. It's a primal instinct in anyeone to protect those you care about and those that don't have that kind of person...well, it just leads to problems :P

Though...I think he could actually come in when people are acting like doofuses or trying too hard to hide their feelings that he's just getting annoyed with the tension that he could feel it from Olympus :P
