Death Battle Prelude: Revy vs. Wild Dog

Steel: GUNS! Gotta love the Second Amendment that gives us the Right to Keep and Bear Arms! Too bad I was thought some kinda threat to society for proposing the Right to Blow a Hotdog Vendor's Head off for Charging too Much...

Question: New rule, Steel--from now on, you end your anecdotes one sentence early.

Steel: I already did. It was gonna end with "I killed so many".

Question: (sigh) Look at what I have to work with...

Bella: Revy, the skilled gunfighter of Lagoon Company...

Virus Man: And Jack Wheeler, a.k.a. Wild Dog.

Steel: They're Question and Virus Man, she's Bella, and I'm Steel!

Question: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle...





REVY...

Steel: Revy was born and raised on the mean streets of New York. But there were a few hiccups in her childhood--her dad was an abusive jerk and the cops were racist jerks...and she's Chinese-American. And one day, they kinda found her, beat her, raped her, and then sent her on her way. Having enough of this, she kinda shot and killed her dad when he asked for another drink. Normally, this is where I relate in some insane or non sequitur way, but now...I've got nothin'.

Question: She wound up in the Thai city of Roanapur, becoming one of the four members of the Lagoon Company, along with their leader Dutch, their computer expert Benny, and their diplomat Rock. Her position? The one who uses the guns when things get tricky, which happens a LOT.

Bella: Hijinks ensue!

Virus Man: Revy was nicknamed "Two Hands" because of her wielding of two modified Beretta 92FS pistols, which she called the "Cutlass Pistols". These modifications include ivory handles, the engravings on the gun barrels, and having built-in silencers to reduce the noise, making it ideal for stealth.

Question: The Beretta 92 pistol is widely considered to be one of, if not the most reliable machine pistol on the planet. It has a maximum range of over 160 feet and each one packs up to thirteen nine millimeter rounds.



ADAPTABILITY...

Bella: Revy is nothing if not adaptable. Whether it's her pistols, submachine guns, water-proof assault rifles, or rocket launchers, she's just as happy and lethal with them!

Question: Much like the average comic book hero, Revy seems to be able to shrug off blows that would incapacitate any normal person. This includes being shot in the arm and stabbed in the leg...which has happened at least twice.

Steel: Revy's also shown to have incredible speed, being able to dodge bullets. Not Matrix-style, mind you, but up there.

Bella: And she's got incredible stamina, having fought Roberta the Terminator Maid to a standstill and only considered the loser of the fight because she didn't regain consciousness fast enough.

Virus Man: But hen comes her darker side...

Virus Man: If you get Revy particularly upset, then she enters a stage called "Whitman fever". During this stage, she becomes rather detached, emotionally, and basically kills everything in sight.

Bella: YIKES.

Question: But she does have her downside. First of all, she lacks any serious form of armor for protection...then again, considering her bullet-dodging skills, she probably doesn't need it.

Virus Man: Revy's also got a rotten temper, which I believe can impair human judgement?

Steel: Yes, it can.

Bella: She's also usually the one who starts a fight. But hey, she's skilled enough, fast enough, and ferocious enough to be considered the fiercest fighter in Roanapur. And considering it's already a city with the fierce and pitiless, that's saying a lot.

(Rock: Revy, what're you planning to do?
Revy: Listen, why don't you take a break from the casual conversation about your world? 'Cuz right now, I need to focus on THIS world.)

Steel: Now, I bet you're wondering this--"Wild Dog? Who the heck is THAT?" Well, you're about to find out!



WILD DOG...
First Appearance: Wild Dog #1 (1987)

Occupation: Mechanic, former soldier, anti-terrorist vigilante

Defended Quad Cities, Iowa, despite being considered an outlaw by police

Was one of the few heroes to survive Maxwell Lord's campaign (alternate timeline)

Steel: Jack Wheeler's life seemed to be a spiral of disappointments. First off, he dropped out of school because an injury cost him his scholarship, then he left the Marines after a bomb killed most of his fellow soldiers, and then saw his girlfriend get gunned down by the mob. Bummer.

Question: He dealt with his grief in the expected way for these stories...

Bella: He grabbed a hockey mask, some guns, a pair of stun gloves, AND STARTED A-SHOOTIN' THINGS!

Question: ...Yes.

Virus Man: Setting up base in his Quad Cities, Iowa, he declared a one-man war on the criminals and domestic terrorists.

Steel: So, in other words, he PUNISHES those who did wrong. Wonder where DC gets these ideas!

Question: (cough)PUNISHER...(cough)

STUN GLOVES...
Knocks out person with a single touch

Steel: One of Wild Dog's signature weapons are his stun gloves, rigged to knock someone out with a single touch! Wish I had one o' those! It'd make dealing with salesmen a whole lot easier!

Question: Wild Dog's primary weapon is the Jatimatic submachine gun. This Finnish-built gun can carry up to forty rounds per magazine with a firing rate that goes up to six hundred and fifty rounds per minute. It tends to be reliable and accurate, but is rather reliant on hip-firing.

Steel: And like all awesome guys, he DUAL WIELDS 'EM!

Bella: Wild Dog wears some bulletproof, lightweight armor under that hilarious dog jersey! It can easily block bullets being fired at him from semi-automatic weapons!

Virus Man: Being a member of the Marines, as well as his history in athleticism has made Wild Dog rather accomplished in the physical combat as well as adaptable with multiple forms of firearms.

Steel: The guy's just as comfy with a chain gun as he is with his guns!

Question: But even Wild Dog's not invincible. Though he has the proper training, he's still only human and has the limitations that come with it.

Bella: He also doesn't have proper head-proteciton against gunfire. Heck, in an alternate timeline, he wound up shooting himself while under mind control from Maxwell Lord.

Steel: And, let's face fact--his body armor won't be able to take all forms of gunfire, especially if it's at point-blank range or going at the right velocity.

Virus Man: But now, we see how this gun-wielding under dog does against Two Hands.

(Green Arrow: My arrows never miss their target. Wild Dog, on the other hand, usually obliterates everything in a ten foot radius.
